In class we have been studying about the Titanic - did you know it is 100years since the disaster, we created passenger guides for the boat and had an expert speaker share a presentation about the Titanic with us. It has been very interesting.
Year 5 to show all of your new found knowledge answer these questions about the Titanic:
1. The Titanic was completed at a cost of?
2. The sister ship of the Titanic was?
3. The human capactiy of the Titanic was?
4. When did the Titanic sail and sink?
5. Did divers swim down to look at the Titanic? Why/why not?
6. The first lifeboats to leave were not full – why do you think they left with empty spaces on them?
7. Why do you think these boats didn’t go back to help other people? Can their actions be justified?
8. Do you think the policy of ‘women and children first’ is a good/fair idea? Why/why not?
9. What do you notice about the number of casualties in each class? Why do you think this is the case?
10. Do you think anyone is to blame for the disaster? If so who; the captain for going too fast? The people who ignored the iceberg warnings? The lookout for not seeing the iceberg earlier? The shipmaker for not putting enough lifeboats on board? The people who used half empty lifeboats?
