Egg Parachutes!

Hello Year 5,

Yesterday we made egg-parachutes, with varying degrees of success! I would like you to describe how your group made their parachute, if it was a success and how it could be improved? I also would like you to describe the forces involved in the experiment

  1. I think that my group should improve by checking to see if there were any holes the egg could slip through( luckily there wasn't)and another thing to improve on is the amount of fluff because there was'nt too much. The egg was pulled down to the ground by the gravity as the air resistance.Gilbert

  2. our parachute was small.we wanted it small, because we could use just one plastic bag.the parachute that we made was going to the groud slower, because smaller things do not have that much gravity that big things have.but still the gravity was stronger than the air resistance.

    1. That was probably better than my gigantic chicken house!!!

  3. My groups parachute didn't succeed because the box prtecting the egg was too heavy as well as gravity. Sir Issac Newton discovered gravity and without gravity we woulden't have waves or planets.

    1. you have made the box to big
and probebly the egg moved alot.

    2. nice one Sebi Gilbert

    3. I think you should have filled your box with cotton, more, so the egg couldn't move around as much.

  4. our group first taped the egg inside cotton and then we made a cage for the egg.

then we made a main parachute and then we made two other parachutes.

  5. my parachute worked because there was no room for it to move because was filled acotton.
To keep the egg from breaking all the force on the egg was pushed on the cotton.
And the gravity on space would keep the egg floating but on earth it would fall strait to the ground luckily the parachute kept it from breaking.

    1. the air resistance was bigger then the gravity so the paraschute spread out quickly.

  6. The man who discovered gravity was someone called Sir Isaac Newton who discovered gravity when an apple dropped on his head. The bigger the object the more gravity it creates. Gilbert

  7. First, we made a cardboard box.
Secondly, we made two wings and tied the parachute two it.
Finally, we filled the box with cotton wool, put the egg in and closed the box.

It wasn't a succes and I think we could improve by having a longer string.

    Two facts about gravity:
Sir Isaac Newton got the idea of gravity because an apple fell on his head.
Air resistance is stronger than gravity on earth

  8. Our team was making a small parachute because the egg was tiny. The materials we used were card board, seletape, cotton, string, red paper.
When the teacher opened our box the egg was't broken.

How bigger object it is the more the gravity will push you down.

The moon also has some gravity so it can push and pull the ocean.

  9. my group made a box and put cotton in itthen the egg and after we tied the parachute to it.

    gravity facts
    gravity pulls things down
    Sir Iaac Newton discoverd gravity

    My egg survived.

  10. First we cut pieces of cardboard. Then we made from it a box, but first we put in the box cotton. Then I made 4 small holes in the box. After that, the group put the strings in the holes and tied it. Finally we did the the same to the plastic bag.

We did not success, so when we do it next time we will make it smaller and make 1 more parachute.

The bigger the object is, the more gravity it makes. Isaac Newton discovered gravity.
