What are the chances of that!!!
Hello Maths group,
Today we have been looking at probability scales, using the work we have done in class I would like you to come up with 2 statements that would be true for each of the 5 points of the probability scale; i.e 2 impossible, 2 unlikely, 2even chance, etc etc.
Good luck

The children have written their own version of The Highwayman, changing as many things as possible from the story. What do you think?
The Highwayman
One evening in a pitch
dark forest
That nobody had ever
dared to enter except the rich.
Justin a teenage movie
star came in a silver limo only the best
To a VIP hotel. Where
he supposed that he could buy a book about a witch.
Justin had blackish
brown hair,
A short motorcycle
riding like jacket that was made of black leather,
Some boots which were
black as the darkness of midnight
And he was 100% light
as a feather.
When they reached the
hotel in which, he had reserved a huge room to rest,
He went straight to
the casino where he stood dead in his tracks and planted to the ground.
He did this because in
front of his eyes there was the most beautiful teenage star that he had ever
laid his eyes on the absolute best.
“Now “he said to
himself “the most pleasant girl for me I have found!”.
He soon found out that
she was called Selena and was a singer but also a movie star.
John the one who loved
Selena and gave out shoes for bowling had his anger boiling when he saw the two
hanging out but to calm himself and not be mad he whispered to himself “ she is
still the one I love “.
Justin said to Selena
“maybe we could just go to the lake outside- to be alone- though let us not go
far”.
So they went to the
lake and watched together in silence while they heard the graceful fly of a
dove.

New Highwayman
Once in the middle of
the night a Ferrari came driving by,
In that Ferrari was
James Bond looking at the sky,
He came driving-
driving – driving -
by,
He was in a dark deep
forest with high brown trees,
On those trees were
dark green leaves,
The pavements were
chatting while James Bond came driving.
James Bond had a black
suit, a white shirt with a bow tie,
And a nice little
triangle on the top of his head,
A gun down his pants
with little black bullets,
Shining black eyes on the forehead,
With Todd black shoes
he kept driving-
driving – driving –
by,
And he came in his
super-duper fast Ferrari,
The trees swung from
one way to the other,
James Bond knocked on
the grand door but it was closed-
closed – closed –
hard,
He went to the bottom
of the balcony,
Were Sky the Hotel
managers daughter was waiting for money,
There she was James
Bonds honey.
On the parking slots
were they talking,
There John Jawer was
watching while they were walking,
James Bond Said he was
going to bring back some jewels
And went away with all
his tools-
tools – tools – away,
while Sky Blue-eyed
was waiting.

The Coastguard
One gloomy mysterious
night
The coast guard had a
flight
He was flying through
the forest
It was the foggiest
He was flying, flying,
flying
Suddenly the engines
were dying
Then he saw a beach with
many houses
When he landed he saw
many mouses
When he went out and
knocked on the door
He heard a big snore
Then a beautiful girl
named Lady Gaga came out
And he was in love
The coast guard had to
go so he said
You will find me by
moon light
Jakishum was listening
because he has dumb
When the coast guard
went away a mafia came
They were all the same
They started killing
every one
But they tied Lady
Gaga to the bed and they were done
When the coast guard
came back
The mafia had snack
Then they saw him and
killed him
And then they killed
her
And they lived happily
ever after as ghosts
The End
By Zachary
New Highwayman
The moon was extremely
glowy,
And in the eerie
forest,
Tintin came riding
with his dog snowy,
And they were both
absolutely petrified,
He had a black and
white lethal pistol,
He really had
extremely modern jeans,
And in his shoes he
had a pricy pistol,
In case something
happened he had a whistle,
He came riding to a
huge sky-scraper,
He did that dangerous
thing because,
He had it on the
paper,
And there he saw her
The Highwayman
The moon was a
glimmering ball of light
The wind was a sign of darkness
The road was a vast as
a star bright
And a boy named Tom came in a car to the hotel
He had a white t-shirt
and a black coat
His hair was a mighty
brown and his shoes were black
His trousers were sky
blue plus his eyes too
He parked his sliver
car in the giant old hotel,
And tried to meet
someone new but the place was empty
He rushed through all
the doors
But sadly there was no
one there
On his way out he
found a girl named Emalli
While the taked a boy
named Bob stared
At them while his hair
turned into flames of fire
King Max’s men came
marching to the hotel
And killed the lovely
Emalli
As soon as Tom heard
about this he
Was as mad as an eagle
and tried to kill
The soldiers but
killed himself
But they lived as one

Here are the first installments of Year 5B's version of The Highwayman. They have written their own endings to the poem. Can you leave one or two positive comments, and one comment about how you could make it better, about each one.
The
Highwayman
Clip-clop
the hooves echo in the frosty night,
The
Highwayman was ready to kill, affront and fight,
He was
going to go and save Bess from her knots,
Ready
to affront all of the soldiers which were lot’s,
When
he arrived at the inn he killed till moonlight,
Then
they ran away forever in the middle of the night,
The
soldiers were dead but Bess and the Highwayman where not.
Elodie
The highwayman
Clip clop the hooves did echo in the frosty night
When he swathe Bess in knots
He rushed to the quiet inn
While he untied her knots he noticed there were lots
He throw the rope in the bin
One soldier woke from his slumber
And fought with the highwayman
Till there was a big thunder
The other soldiers woke with a fright
And then there was a big fight
The highwayman died but he still loved Bess
Bess now sees her love in the moonlight
Seljan
The Highwayman
Clip clop the
hooves echo in the frosty night
The Highwayman
came riding, brave and full of fright
He told Bess to
run so she ran away
The Highwayman
was fitting till the next day
Then the
highwayman ran away to a different place with -Bess
Then the
highwayman and Bess
Lived without
this this mess
THE END
By Zachary. Y
The Highwayman
Clip-Clop
the hooves came riding in the night,
The
Highwayman came riding with fear,
And
he could see Bess crying with enormous fright,
Then
he untied Bess from her extremely tight knots,
And
told Bess to run away from the dangerous inn,
He
was fighting with the soldiers while Bess was safe,
Then
1 of the soldiers fell into the bin,
So
the soldiers decided to quit the fight,
Then
the Highwayman and the lovely Bess,
In
the extremely cosy and old fashioned inn-yard,
Lived
happily ever after without this huge mess.
Viktor
The
Highwayman Ending
Trot-trot
the hooves did echo in the misty night.
The
Highwayman bravely entered the forest.
He rose
from his horse and ran off to fight.
He
tiptoed to the inn and untied Bess.
Next he
told her to meet him in the woods
After searching
everywhere for the troop
He felt
terrified to see Bess in no kind of bad mood
Bess
was actually a soldier in disguise
Sadly
the Highwayman didn’t notice that
So when
he came running…
He got
shot.
Bess
was heartbroken
But
survived and always kept his cocked hat
To
remind her of him.

Fred's new Highwayman verses
The sea was an angry monster splashing
around like a storm,
The clouds were dirty sheep slowly moving
around.
And The Highwayman came riding-
Riding-riding-
The Highwayman came riding up to the old
window.
The Landlord’s daughter came,
They talked and kissed and then he said
good-bye to the lovely, black-haired dame.
His horse trotted away but on the way down
the lane,
But not so far from him came marching some
red, armed, bearded men,
The Highwayman decided to hide and shoot,
He hid behind a nut tree and shot all of
them down.
He gathered all their weapons and galloped
all the way back,
Back down the rusty track.
Then one of the frightened soldiers ran
away and got back on his feet,
His name was Tim the Ostler was the only of
them left.
He sprinted back to his house and got some
things to eat,
He was jealous of the Highwayman so he
decided to take up theft.
He said hello to Bess
He hung up all the weapons
But looking in through the window was Tim
Yes it was him……………………………………………
Marketa's new Highwayman verses
The wind was
a torrent of darkness upon the dark tree,
It seemed as
if they were monstrous figures, but instead of hair they had leaves,
the
moonlight was a thin, white material falling on the road,
and there
the highwayman was arriving-arriving-arriving,
the
highwayman was arriving up to the old, dirty inn door.
He had a
French cocked hat,
And the
buttons he had on his coat, they twinkled as diamonds,
The wind was
hitting his cheeks and forehead, when he was arriving on his horse,
He tried to
cover his face, but it was even worse,
He was
coming closer and closer to the old, dirty inn door.
Over the
cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark inn-yard,
He tapped on
the door and weighted and then saw the door was barred,
Then he
tried to tap the window, but nothing came from there……
He tried to
tap once more and there he saw the landlord’s black-eyed daughter,
There he saw
the landlord’s daughter doing her in there.
It was
getting darker and darker,
while they were talking and they did not know
the Tim the Osler was listening,
his face
become red with anger he was very angry now…………
he dashed
inside, without a smile and tried to kill the highwayman, but he could not,
Bess the
landlords black-eyed daughter slowly came to Tim the Osler,
She said to
him “you are not the one I want I do not need you” so Tim the Osler
disappointed now took a knife
And
…….killed him self,
The next
month Bess and the highwayman decided to get married.
Alicia's new Highwayman verses
The moon was
howling,
In the dark
spooky trees
And the wind
was whistling,
In the rusty
dried leaves
And the
spectre of the Highwayman,
Came riding-
riding- riding
Up to the
rusty inn- door,
And still
they say that Bess and the Highwayman
Go out with
each other.
Tim the
ostler listened- listened-listened
Till his
face grew red,
He loved the
landlords daughter
Landlords
black eyed daughter,
And he
vanished behind the shed like a ghost
And the
Highwayman did too.
Here came
king Georges men,
Marching –
marching-marching up to the rusty inn-door
They yelled
and drank until they came too poor frightened Bess.
Timi's new Highwayman verses
The Highwayman came to see
bess
he talked to her and kissed
her
and after a minute he missed
her
He toled her he would come at
afternoon AND tIM THE OSTLER WAS LISTENING
But he didn’t come at noon
he didn’t come at night.
Just after bESS WAS ABOUT THE
GO TO BED TIM ORDERED TO THE SOILDERS
TO GARD THIS PLACE
BECAUSE THE HIGHWAYMAN WAS ON
HIS WAY.
THREE SOILDERS TIED UP BESS
AND MESSED UP HER BEAUTIFUL
DRESS.
SHE WAS SWEATING WITH BLOOD.
THEN SHE SAW THE HIGHWAYMAN,
TRIED TO MOVE BUT THERE WAS NO
WAY OUT
AND THE SOILDERS WERE LAUGHING
ABOUT.
hER FINGER WAS ABLE TO TOUCH
THE TRIGGER.
THEN SHE SAW THE HIGHWAYMAN.
sHE TRIED TO WARN HIM
SOMEHOW
SO SHE PULLED THE TRIGGER AND
KILL HERSELF.
THE HIGHWAYMAN TURNED AROUND
WENT BACK
ON THE MUDDY TRACK.
THE NEXT DAY HE WOKE UP AND A
RICH GUY HIT HIM ON HIS HEAD
WHEN HE WAS STILL IN BED.
HE FORGOT EVERYTHING.
HE wasn’t A HIGHWAYMAN ANYMORE
SO HE BECAME POOR.
