To continue our work on the Highwayman, I want you to think about the characters of The Highwayman, Bess and Tim the Ostler.
Can you describe what kind of character they are and explain why they each choose the actions they do, use the poem and your inference skills to help you.
Some things to think about:
1) What kind of character is Tim?
2) What kind of character is Bess?
3) What kind of character is The Highwayman?
4) Why does Tim tell the soldiers about The Highwayman and Bess?
5) What do you think Tim's everyday life is like?
6) How do you think Bess feels about Tim the Ostler?
7) Does the Highwayman deserve any sympathy from the reader? if so why? if not why not?
8) Can you explain the way The Highwayman acts when he finds out what happened to Bess?
9) Who is to blame for what happens to Bess?

1.Tim is jealous because he caused the death of Bess.

4.Tim telled the soilders because he thought if the Highwayman died Bess would love him.
5.I think tims life is misarible and thats why he told the police because if they would kill the highwayman he thought Bess would love her so he would have a better life with Bess.

4.Tim told king Georg's men because he loved the landlord's doughter and was jelous of the Highwayman.
5.Tim's every day life is horible because his job is boring and he is anoyed every time when he sees the landlord's doughter whith the Highwayman.
6.I think Bess is anoyed with Tim the ostler because I think it was not the first time he was watching them.
7.The Highwayman should diserve some simpathy because its very trajedic when someone killes a member of your family or someone close to you.

1.I think that Tim is more of a good guy than a bad guy because he did the right thing with telling the police about The Highwayman but he did it for the wrong reasons (he felt jealous that the Bess loved The Highwayman as he loved Bess as well).
ReplyDelete2.I think Bess is a brave girl because she killed herself when she heard that The Highwayman was coming and saved his life but unfortunately for her it was for nothing as he died.
4.Tim tells the soldiers about The Highwayman because he loves Bess and so does the The Highwayman and if the The Highwayman gets killed then he can have Bess all for himself.
5.I think that Tim is miserable because he sees the landlords daughter and Bess dosen't love Tim she loves The Highwayman so he is really sad.
6.I think that Bess would not like Tim the Ostler because she would be sad for the rest of her life.
7.I don't think that The Highwayman deserves any sympathy because he is a criminal, steals peoples money and perhaps kills other people.
8.The highwayman acts like a madman because he thinks that his life is not worth very much now that his love is dead.

3. The highway was a bad criminal who is saved by someone dieng and then he gets angry and goes to get revenge and dies.

4.Tim tells it because he is jealous and he wanted the Highwayman to die, but he did not expect Bess to kill herself.

3)H.M is a very bad ,horrible charactor because he is a criminal and he robbes people to get things(gold,money).
4)Tim tells on the soliders because he was a tell tail and he wanted to make the soliders kill the H.M rather doing it his self.
6)I think Bess didn't care about Tim because he was only old, stupid ostler.

9)I think the blame has to go on the H.M because when he came he should've walked quietly.
10)I think the blame is on the soliders because they shouldn't kill him because if someone killed them they would be sorry.
